Fin dalla sua inaugurazione, nel 1992, “Il Riccio” è l’unica vera “trattoria” tipicamente italiana situata nel centro della città di Lussemburgo.
La Trattoria “Il Riccio” deve il suo nome a testimoniare l’amore verso questo piccolo animale che il signor Gaetano Veletta in gioventù aveva ricevuto in dono da suo padre e che, molto rapidamente, diventò un membro della famiglia.
La sua alta cucina tipica serve una clientela sofisticata che vuole gustare i veri sapori della cucina italiana.
Mettendo gli ospiti immediatamente a proprio agio con il suo ambiente accogliente, " Il Riccio " diventa così il luogo in cui si possono godere i piaceri della tavola, accompagnando i piatti con vini pregiati delle migliori marche italiane, che sono tesori della cantina del signor Veletta, il quale gestisce il ristorante con il solo scopo di far apprezzare le qualità della vera e tradizionale cucina italiana.

Since its opening in 1992, “Il Riccio” has been representing the only true typical Italian “trattoria” located in the center of Luxembourg City. La Trattoria, “Il Riccio”, in English “The Hedgehog”, is named after a beloved, friendly animal that was given to Mr.
Gaetano Veletta, while he was young, by his father as a gift. That was very quickly integrated as a member of the family. Typical gourmet cuisine is served to a sophisticated clientele who appreciates to taste the true flavors of Italian kitchen. With its friendly atmosphere, “Il Riccio” immediatly puts its guests at ease, so they can indulge in the pleasure of the table.
The dishes are accompanied by exquisite wines of the best Italian brands that are treasures from the cellar of Mr. Veletta. He manages the restaurant with the only purpose to bring you closer to appreciate the quality of the true and traditional Italian cusine.
Due to many years of serious work, “Il Riccio” represents a little piece of Italy in the heart of Luxembourg City.
Here, the only protagonist is the cusine of “Bel Paese” and eating well, expecially eating well Italian, is just normal.

Service was excellent, starters and main course a bit too much but prime quality.
Especially seasonal dishes (artichokes, leafy summer greens) combined well with superb fish.

Dinner was delicious although the vegetarian ravioli somewhat boring.
The staff was friendly with the unfortunate exception of the elderly gentleman who was gruff to the point of rude. It appeared that two of our drinks were not on the bill - we had not noticed as the total was quite a bit higher than we expected based on the menu prices - and he was accusatory and interrogating us about what we had had to drink. He kept repeating in an agro tone “what was in this glass” and stomped off to the till to produce an even higher bill. An unpleasant end to an otherwise lovely evening.

Cadre chaleureux, patrons et service accueillants, bonne cuisine. Nous sommes tous arrives à des moments différents et avons commandé en décalage, aucun problème pour le restaurant: ils ont été flexibles et sont restés souriants malgré le chaos que nous avons créé.

Nous avons déjeuné à il Riccio il y a peu, et ça n'a pas été une grande découverte.
La déco y est vieillotte, je dirais même légèrement défraîchie, mais cela n'est pas vraiment dérangeant.
Nous avons regardé la carte, et au moment de commander le serveur est venu nous conseillé des plats qui n'étaient pas notés, nous avons donc choisi de l'écouter.
Nous avons donc eu un plat de lotte et un plat de porc, pas mauvais mais rien de transcendant et surtout rien de très italien.
Pour nous faire un second avis nous avons pris un petit plat de pâte à partager, des tortellinis beurre et sauge. Même sentence pour ce plat... pour en avoir mangé à plusieurs reprises en Italie je peux dire que les pâtes ne valaient pas le détour. Pâtes fades et sauce trop salée.
Pour finir, nous avons pris deux desserts : une cassata et un sorbet citron. Rien à dire sur le sorbet citron, c'est un sorbet... La cassata était elle industrielle, donc décevant venant d'un restaurant italien qui se dit "typique".
Nous en avons eu pour un peu plus de 100€, cela ne nous dérange pas de mettre ce prix dans un repas pour deux, mais il faut que le repas soit à la hauteur et ce n'était malheureusement pas le cas.
Ce n'est clairement pas un restaurant que je conseillerai si vous voulez bien manger et manger italien qui plus est.
